Blossoming
10th Annual Kentlands Mansion Juried Show

This is a busy and fun time of the year.  Life is approaching normal after the pandemic and people are out enjoying their lives once again.  It is also the first call for our annual exhibit at the Kentlands Mansion (January 27 – April 16, 2023).  This year is a big show year for ALOG with our anniversary event later this spring.  Let’s begin the new year with a “bang” and rock the art world with this, our initial show of 2023.

This year’s theme is “Blossoming”.  A perfect title for us to rise up out of covid restrictions and let our artistic light shine.  The theme can represent many things and I am sure you all will have fun with it creatively.  Remember the theme is a guide, not a restriction.

I am attaching a copy of the exhibition prospectus where you will find all the information you will need to submit for this exhibit.  Artwork labels are provided on the last page of the prospectus.  I am also including a file showing the proper procedure for preparing artwork for hanging.  Third, I am attaching a short narrative about our juror, Liana Owad.  Liana is the current studio director and art instructor at Hood College.

This “call to artists” is to all current ALOG members for two-dimensional artwork (Four Categories:  Oil/Acrylic; Water Media: Watercolor, Gouache, Casein, Tempera; Dry/Mixed Media:  Pastel, Pencil/Charcoal, Collage, Mixed Media and Photography).  Each participant may submit a total of four pieces for this exhibit; No more than two pieces in any one category.  Cash awards will be presented in each category at the reception.

Note:  As in the past, registration for this exhibit is quick and easy.  To register, simply email Bill Mapes (externalshows@alog.org) with the following information for each entry:  Category, Title, Name, Medium, Price, Phone Number.  Registration information is due no later than midnight, Monday, January 23, 2023.

This exhibit is fun and a showcase to the whole of Montgomery County.  So, get planning and working to make this the best show in our ten-year participation.
