Seth Kalish

Seth Evan Kalish is a Washington, DC, native, and a professional graphic designer.  As an emerging artist, he creates abstract geometric artwork constructed of multiple layers.  Drawing on his technical skills using computer software, he creates multiple layers to be laser cut from plywood, cardstock, or paper and assembled into a whole, producing complex compositions showcasing three-dimensional and color designs.

His work explores meanings and associations from rendering graphic elements — lines, forms, negative spaces, and patterns — into cohesive structures, inviting interpretations of referenced symbols and abstract designs.  Specific inspiration comes from a universe of motifs, from sacred geometry, ancient symbols, and semiotics, to various art movements, architecture, physics, mechanics, chemistry, and nature science.
