Grace Newcomer
Grace Newcomer is a representational portrait and landscape painter. Just before retirement, she was introduced to pastels and immediately fell in love with the medium, the vibrant colors and the direct contact between the pastels, herself and the painting surface. Grace loves using pastels in telling a story, whether it’s a portrait or landscape. “I want my work to tell a story and for the viewer to experience some emotional response, memory or feeling that cannot be expressed in words.”
She has enjoyed numerous awards in the Washington, DC area, including Best of Show. Grace is primarily a self-taught portrait artist and studied Fine Arts Pastel at Montgomery College in Maryland. She is a signature member of the Maryland Pastel Society, Gaithersburg Fine Arts Associations, Art League of Germantown, Frederick County Art Association, The Maryland Society of Portrait Painters, Gaithersburg Artist Collective and Gallery 209. Her work can be found in the Artists On Market Gallery in the Kentlands and Gallery 209 located in the Artist & Maker Studios in Rockville.
