EAT DESSERT FIRST (COLLAGE, 2020)

More recently, I have discovered “painting with paper”.  I love it!  I feel like I am playing and creating art at the same time, yet love the planning many of the pieces require.

Artist Statement:  Art has been a lifelong passion for me.  It all began as a child when  my bag of “drawing stuff” was my constant companion — pencils, pens, charcoal and paper.  Art, unfortunately, was forced to take a backseat during the busier family years, although never far from my mind.

Upon returning to art, I began to work in color while creating in pastel, colored pencil and most recently collage using a technique of “painting with paper” and mixed media.  My subject matter knows no boundaries.  Landscapes, animals, old rusty trucks and florals continue to be favorites.  As long as I’m creating, I’m happy!

In addition to ALOG, I am a member of Maryland Pastel Society and Colored Pencil Society of America.  I participate in a variety of shows throughout the area, as well as online.

THROUGH THE FIELDS (PASTEL, 2021)

Compared to my older pastel pieces, my style has loosened up a bit.  I have discovered working on suede mat board which helps with the looseness.

OLD RED (PASTEL, 2008)

This was done relatively early in my return to art.  The original hangs somewhere in California.  Even before it sold, I was very pleased with it.  It made me feel like maybe I really was an artist!

WALK THIS WAY (COLORED PENCIL, CIRCA 2015)

One of my favorite colored pencil pieces.  At 16x20, it is on the larger and more tedious side to do in colored pencil, but I loved every minute of it!
